SysAdmin Engineer – remote role in Nicaragua

Role Purpose:

Responsible for the stability of the Nobelbiz network infrastructure (monitoring, troubleshooting) and installation of new equipment and software.

Responsibilities: 

  • Hardware and software installation within Nobelbiz Infrastructure
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs (such as backups)
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor procedures for all server backups.
  • Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Maintain excellent communication with the Director of Operations and peers on all tasks and projects.
  • Security compliance related tasks
  • Provides sysadmin/devops assistance to the SEs and support team
  • Escalating critical issues to senior system administrators.
  • Help desk for Nobelbiz team members

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-years work experience in a previous sysadmin/technical support position;
  • University Degree in Telecommunications / Computer Science;
  • Possession of designated system/technologies certifications would be considered an advantage;
  • Experience with Linux and Windows servers operating systems;
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (Vmware, Proxmox);Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS)
  • Knowledge of various tools for network monitoring (Centreon,Nagios, Cacti);
  • Good knowledge in Windows PowerShell & Bash scripting;
  • Good knowledge setting up and managing database systems such as SQL Server, MySQL;
  • Good knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations to include experience with Cisco routers/ switches/security appliances;
  • Knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, WebRTC) and VoIP application (Asterisk, Freeswitch);
  • Knowledge of automation systems (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is considered a plus
  • Must possess above average organization skills, excellent communication skills, and can demonstrate problem solving skills. Considered an out of the box thinker and displays a willingness to learn;
  • Ability to work in a high availability environment. Maintains quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently;
  • Fluent in English.
