At our latest Nobel book club meeting, we discussed “Seven Days in June” by Tia Williams, a novel that was nominated at Goodreads Choice Awards 2021 in the “Best Romance” category.
The protagonists of the book are both writers, and the novel features many literary events and bibliophile settings which make the book all the more appealing to readers and bookaholics.
The love story between Shane and Eva starts when the main characters are only teenagers and it’s rekindled after twenty years of separation. The baggage both characters accumulate in the meantime (from trauma, drug abuse, mental health issues, to divorce, children and failure) is the premise of a challenging relationship that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
We like a good debate at our N.A.R.A. (Nobel Anonymous Readers Association) meetings, so we had a great time discussing this book, with some of our book club members having liked the novel more than others.
Through Fun at Work activities like the book club gatherings, we have the opportunity to know our fellow Nobel team members better and to share our hobbies in addition to work related projects.
Next, we are reading a Haruki Murakami collection of short stories, so stay tuned for updates on what the bookish people at Nobel thought about this book.
