HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION, PHILIPPINES!
On June 12th, we celebrated Philippines Independence Day! We took the opportunity to wish a great day of joyful celebration to our wonderful Filipino team members here at Nobel!
We are always eager to learn more about our colleagues’ national culture and history, so we were curious to discover some trivia about this beautiful country.
Did you know that?
- The Philippines declared their independence from Spain on June 12th 1898.
- The original iteration of the Philippine flag, unfurled in 1898, is the one Filipinos still fly proudly today.
- The flag’s white triangle stands for equality, while the sunburst inside represents the eight provinces that took up arms against Spain. The blue stripe stands for peace, truth and justice and the red stripe for patriotism and valor. The three stars symbolize the three island groups of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
- The Philippines are constituted of over 7,000 islands with a combined surface area of 300,000 km2, housing a population of 109.6 million people.
