Another entertaining Nobel book club meeting took place this month, with team members joining our virtual get-together event from various countries of the world to discuss “Open Water”, Caleb Azumah Nelson’s debut novel.

In essence a book about the perils of vulnerability, “Open Water” follows two Black British artists, a photographer and a dancer, in South East London. The story touches upon the struggles of letting your guards down and surrendering to an authentic human connection in the context of a society which requires strength and self-sufficiency.

We were surprised by the second person narrative and exchanged opinions on the book’s approach, structure and purpose, in an engaging yet relaxed conversation at our N.A.R.A. (Nobel Anonymous Readers Association) meeting.

Our upcoming read is by a well-loved Latin American writer, Isabel Allende – “A Long Petal of the Sea”. We are looking forward to this epic novel of historical fiction about freedom, repression, war and exile.

N.A.R.A. (Nobel Anonymous Readers Association) is our company book club and the perfect setting for informal and engaging monthly discussions about our shared passion for reading and books. We are an international company, so our meetings take place in an online environment.
