The readers in our Nobel team exchanged bookish opinions once again at our monthly N.A.R.A. (Nobel Anonymous Readers Association) book club meeting. This time, we discussed about the international bestseller novel “Marina” by the highly acclaimed Spanish writer Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
We were easily swept into the mysterious world of 1980s Barcelona along with the young main character Oscar Drai as we were following his adventures towards unravelling a dark and haunting secret. We enjoyed the atmospheric setting of Zafon’s book and found the rhythm of the narrative to be enticing to turn page after page.
We rooted for the characters while trying to piece together the clues that we were learning about along the way. Also, we felt emotionally invested in the roller coaster of experiences that Oscar and Marina were sharing, all of this making the novel a successful book club choice.
Our next literary journey will take us to Istanbul, as we will be reading “The Flea Palace” by Elif Shafak.
N.A.R.A. (Nobel Anonymous Readers Association) is our company book club and the perfect setting for informal and engaging monthly discussions about our shared passion for reading and books. We are an international company, so our meetings take place in an online environment. We always enjoy our time together as we get to connect and exchange opinions with colleagues from different countries.
