HAPPY CANADA DAY!
Colors of Nobel / 1 July 2022

On July 1st 2022, we celebrated the National Day of Canada with the team here at Nobel!

All colleagues joined forces in wishing a great day of joyful celebration to our wonderful team members from Canada! We also took this opportunity to learn something new about the history and culture of beautiful Canada.

Did you know that?

  • The National Day of Canada (or simply known as Canada Day) celebrates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation, which occurred on July 1, 1867.
  • The three separate colonies of the United Canadas, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were united into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada.
  • Until 1982, Canada celebrated Dominion Day as their national holiday. The day was then renamed to Canada Day.
  • Canadians celebrate their National Day with parades, wearing the national flag colors, having outdoor picnics, sporting events, festivals and fireworks.
  • The flag of Canada, a red stylized maple leaf with 11 points at the center of a white background and vertical red bands on the left and right side, not only represents the cultural heritage of the nation, but also symbolizes hope, peace, tranquility, and neutrality dominant in the country.
  • Maple syrup is emblematic to Canada, the province of Quebec supplying almost two-thirds of the world’s maple syrup.
  • A temperature of -63℃ (-81.4℉) was recorded in the small village of Snag, Canada, on February 3rd 1947, which is even colder than the average temperature on the surface of Mars!
  • Canada has more surface area covered with lakes compared to any other country in the world combined! Canada also has the world’s longest coastline!
